Around 7 million tonnes of plastic waste is generated in India every year, which gets mixed up with the soil and water and pollutes it. But this problem is solved by its duplicate alternative” bio-degradable bags.” In this video of 4 minutes, we’ll see how these bags are made and how it will help us in protecting the environment.

In India, the government has prohibited the use of plastic in many states. However, not having a cheap alternative, plastics are still used. Keeping all these things in mind, Ashwath Hegde came up with an alternative of plastic which is 100% biodegradable and water-soluble. After doing lots of research for 4 years and collaborating with scientists, he finally got the way to make biodegradable bags.

The bags are made from Tapioca, vegetable oil, and vegetable extracts. Then these things are converted into pellets and then into films, then into rolls. These rolls are then sent to the painting sector where it is cut and sealed along with printing which is done with environment-friendly colours.

We would think that these bags must be expensive to purchase. The cost of these bags is just double that of what is of plastic bag. After use, you can just throw it away as it degrades in natural conditions within 90 days. Ashwath wants that Envigreen bags which were just available in Karnataka till 2018, should be available in the whole of India and not just India but in the International countries too, so that the plastic-related issues can be solved from the whole world.
