This is a 4 min and 44 secs video on how nuclear radiation can harm the environment.

Nuclear power is the process that was once the energy wave of the future. But the use of nuclear energy and radiation that occurs through it can cause silent but massive environmental problems.

Excessive use of nuclear radiation can cause cancer in humans and animals and can also lead to birth defects in the newborns which can lead to deformity and unexpected physical damage in future generations.

The largest exposure is the Chernobyl disaster which caused 125000 square miles to be exposed to radiation. The most destructive part of this exposure was the damage to the plant's biodiversity.

Certain chemical liquids can leak if not treated properly namely
tritium - which can contaminate water systems and can lead to cancer if ingested.
Strontium-90- can lead to bone cancer and leukemia if ingested.

Consequences of nuclear power plants

When the power plant is built, they produce a large number of CO2 which causes harm to the surrounding environment. The power plants need water, so they suck the cold water from water bodies and release the warm water back.
The warmer water can kill fish that are not used to the heat and are unable to adjust to unfavorable water temperatures.
