This is a 13-minute TEDx video on the social changes needed to tackle the environmental problems by Prof. Paul Doss.
The video begins with a picture of a burning river in Ohio, which became an icon for environmental movement. It initiated various polices for environment protection.
The current environmental problems are far
more complicated than the burning river. The solution for this global issue is change in our social behavior.
The reckless consumption of ground water by industries affects rivers and aquatic animals, eventually humans.
The environment is polluted by plastic and how increased use of plastic leads to harm to organisms.
Then the talk extends to the great pacific garbage patch created (and extending) due the throwaway culture. The process of cleaning this patch is a complicated process.
The importance of water and the rate at which it is being polluted. A graph indicates amounts of chemicals found in the samples of rivers.
The situation is drastic in which organisms are living caused due to chemicals poured in the river by pharmaceutical industries which results
mutation in them.
Science has done its job of describing ways of preventing climate change, now the solution to climate change is in our hands.
There is need of proper leadership and sound policies to change the behavior of people. Mankind gained victory against environmental problems.
Humans are a threat to environment and it’s time to change our individual behaviours.
