• The video says that in 2015 global leaders adopted a sustainable development goal.
• Goal aims to conserve and sustainably use the ocean, seas and marine resources.
• Marine biodiversity the variety of life in oceans and seas is critical in achieving this goal, it supports the healthy functioning of the plant and the well-being of humanity.
• Marine plants produce roughly 50% of atmospheric oxygen. Aquaculture contributes substantially to the income of more than 10% of the world's population, coastal ecosystems such as reefs and mangrove protect coastal communities from storm surge and extreme weather events.
• Parties to the convention on biological diversity have been working together with partners around the world to safeguard marine biodiversity through a strategic plan for the biodiversity 2011 through 2020.
• We should choose to care for oceans so that they can continue to care for us in the future.
